April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of a few female players of beach volleyball who have done so. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross is hoping to secure the Olympic debut gold, however, she also hopes to win more. There is a chance that she has one opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross was mentioned on NBC Boston as saying that if you play your top, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross was born August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. She was definitely a cut above the rest in this latter game. In her college volleyball season, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player 1999. Her skills in volleyball earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. While Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing from 2017 onward, the former was already an established athlete on the beach prior to their team. She's won big events twice, with various partners. One of them is an icon in the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 until 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who won the world title alongside Kessy in 2009, was also a major force on international stage. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross competed for USC Trojans during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, as a freshman, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss, yet earned the distinction of being an All-American. During her final two seasons in the Trojans in the program they won victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. The individual accomplishments of her have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Sadly, Ross mother Margie never got to see Ross rise to the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. As a result, Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both in and out of the water.
