Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman of business. Buss is the founder and director of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a California native, and was raised by a well-off family. Jerry Buss' father was an entrepreneur in real estate who went on to own the Lakers as well as various other sports organizations. Their relationship ended in 1972 which made her feel like she was neglected. In the year 19 she was appointed the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. Then she founded an organization called the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She held the position of the president for Great Western Forum prior to becoming vice-president for the Lakers. Buss and her siblings, five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder up to his death in 2013, took over this ownership through a trust. They each enjoyed equal the right to vote. She assumed the office of the president for Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles Lakers.
